San Francisco - October 2006
In San Francisco for Dan and Daniele's wedding party and a Zeitgeist afternoon.

Matt and Mike came out to visit John, Dan and me at the Alfred Street house (a house they had passed down to us from the year prior). My few recollections involve waiting up all night for the sun to rise and Matt being the only one who would retrieve the packs of smokes that Dan kept throwing off the roof. And that Bob & Edith's Diner rocks.

Matt & Mike had relocated to DC - for 4th Yr Design Credit;
It was 3 weeks B4 the Fall Quarter Began- When Dan, Carlos, & I flew ourselves out to see what it was all about. These fotos were shot in NYC by our good friend & colleague Maggie Redfern. It was a weekend road trip to visit her at Columbia.
Most Memorable Moment: We damn near got ourselves arrested in the Times Square Subway- staggerin' home from Happy Hour Pitchers of Rolling Rock @ Rudy's- listenin' to the Best Damn Jukebox 'til Midnite- Together again in the summer stench & sweat of Manhattan.

PUNK ROCK - POST COLLEGE-WE JAM ECONO
MATT & Music, Bands, & Live Shows~ One of our favorite pastimes. . .the Glory of Youth:After College, We continued to stay in touch; usually contacting each other whenever our favorite bands or musicians came to town~ for years he demanded time & again that I had to meet him to see these guys from Canada~ I woke up the next day not only glad to be ALIVE, but Glad we made the DRIVE, down to Sacramento to this shitty DIVE, to meet each other for another evening of moshing & swinging each other around arm & arm at an 8 dollar show.

(if you want it) you shouldn't sleep in a single hotel or campground. steal the earth cross country. live like dirtbags. bathe in streams. get totally loose and drive like hell. bring a backpack for trips to NYC (small pack not big mountain momma one) fuck. i dunno. bring a sense of humor, you'll need it. it's not so different out there, just less hip =>(less cool). I endured and returned but i lived to the max when i was there try to go lean and mean. bring only the essentials. luxury is a thin reed. it makes you fat and slow. feel the hunger. feel the cold wind blow. snarl at strangers. snarl at friends too. laugh at tragedy. spell words wrong. call mike. i dont got no more for you now. see you with steak and beer fucker. drive fast and take chances. randy is leaving jesus on the roof for you.

Summer 1998, North of Truckee
it was the rusanoff-designed "bachelor party" in which we all went berzerk in the woods with matt the anchor, patrolling the grounds and adding in caution when required. "it is cruel, unusual and dangerous" he yelled as i chose to pour booze into a fire. when a 2am arrival of guests approached, matt disappeared into the woods and brought them though the trail to camp like a freaky woodsman amok. as dawn approached, matt told us he would soon be biking 50 miles or some such shit. i rubbed my rotten skull and looked at him in awe as he stood clear, strong, crazed, and pure on a rock overlooking all of the big eastern lands. not the first time i would see him as a mighty being beyond my comprehension. not the last.
