tom's surprise birthday party:

matt and i had the requisite bottle on the flight out; a nice idaho potato vodka which somewhat impaired our capacity to navigate the el upon arrival. who knew there was more than one exit to Western? tomcat was surprised, though, and that's why we were there.

i can't remember when, but a night or two later ?(after last call, i think), carly led us to a bar up on the north side. around two-thirty in the morning matt and i took over bass and drums from the house band... (not by force). someone else came up and played guitar with us: i think we played six or so songs... and we'd been drinking since probably eleven a.m. (bless the twisted spoke)... if i recall we played some Chuck Berry and, man, did we play a George Michael song?

a truly fantastic weekend.

you guys are my heroes. endless trips to chicago... and still the energy to plan more of them. the lakeview lounge as it was called is no longer but i'm sure that night goes down as one of the best. we were there late, really late and you did play george michael and you had girls dancing on stage! i also remember matt wanting chicago pizza and so we made friends with everyone sitting anywhere near us at di giorno's downtown.
