we ended up at this bar in the morning, didn't we? it was raining outside, a terrible rain with an abundance and velocity that i've never before nor since witnessed. we'd breakfasted somewhere and thought we'd pass the time until the rain stopped. not that we had anything in particular to do, but i think we were on the way to visit the garden district that day. what memory i have of the rest of our time spent in this bar is somewhat blurred... i think we spent more time here than any one other particular place in new orleans, save our gay-places-to-stay house [La Dauphine] (a paradise complete with grand piano and baskets of fruit).
tom and i had just gotten married but we did a city hall wedding in chicago so we made this our party. matt had found us the houses to rent and i think he had a whole itinerary for us; where to eat gumbo, where to eat oysters, where to get breakfast, where to see the bands, where to drink, where to drink, where to drink... but we did end up at this bar on a rainy morning for several hours... i remember a wonderful time.

oysters, yeah, wow, that's right. i think it was the Acme Oyster House...
i think the four of us finished, like, six? dozen trays of those delicious, fluffy oysters.
matt wanted to zydeco dance.
i remember hand-grenades on bourbon street and didn't we see elliot smith play there, by chance?
